Cy

The gallbladder is a tiny storage pouch under your liver. It holds a special green juice called bile and squirts it out when fatty food — like cheese or butter — comes past, helping break the fat into tiny drops your body can use. Cy calls it the smallest swimming pool in the body.

Bile is a juice your liver makes to help digest fat — imagine washing-up liquid breaking up grease on a pan, but food-safe and made by your own body! Its green-yellow colour comes from recycled parts of old blood cells. Cy’s one big eye approves of the colour scheme.

Only about the size of a small pear! It hides just under your liver on the right side of your tummy. It may be one of the smallest organs in a PeekaLab scan, but for a tiny rower like Cy, a pear-sized pool is Olympic-sized — perfect for morning laps.

Cy is a PeekaLab creature inspired by a copepod — the one-eyed "water flea" whose scientific name really is Cyclops, and the most numerous animal on Earth. One giant eye that misses nothing and two huge oar-antennae for rowing everywhere at top speed.

Cy lives near the Gallbladder. Copepods are the most numerous animals on the whole planet — more of them than all the fish, birds and people combined! And one family is really named Cyclops for its single eye.
